Suffering
Luke 23; John 18-19 Jesus suffered for our sakes. Perhaps, then, I can suffer for His. Maybe that’s why my bad pain is back…so I can think on His pain. And that’s all I can say for the moment. Continue reading Suffering

Matthew 27, Mark 15 Both of these crucifixion accounts tell of the curtain in the temple being torn in two, earthquakes and other frightening events happening at the moment of Jesus’ death. But Matthew says that people who had died who were holy came out of their graves and appeared to many people. They were resurrected! How did I miss that all these years of reading the gospel accounts? I guess this just proves that no matter how many times you read the Bible, God always reveals more and more to you, bit by bit. I’m so glad that the … Continue reading The torn curtain
John 14-17 Jesus did not leave us alone. He sent us the Holy Spirit to remind us of those things we have learned in the middle of those times that we need it the most. Did you know that Jesus prayed for your protection, for the protection of those who are His? Protection from the enemy is not just something that WE ask for…we can be confident that we receive it because Jesus himself asked for it for us, his chosen ones. Divine protection is much stronger and safer than the most stringent security system in the world, don’t you … Continue reading Hoping for an amazing story
Luke 22; John 13 Usually when I read the account of the Last Supper I focus on the communion aspect. But there was more to that meeting in the Upper Room than first met my eye. 5 Jesus told them, “In this world the kings and great men lord it over their people, yet they are called ‘friends of the people.’ 26 But among you it will be different. Those who are the greatest among you should take the lowest rank, and the leader should be like a servant. 27 Who is more important, the one who sits at the table or the … Continue reading He went to extremes
Matthew 26, Mark 14 Can you imagine Jesus on the night he was betrayed? He was God, but he was also fully human…a human who knew the precise details of his upcoming torture and death. Dying on the cross was brutal. I can’t imagine the dread that must have snaked its way through his gut as the hour of his betrayal grew closer and closer. There are things that we also must face that we don’t want to. Every ounce of our humanity may scream out NO when we hear the Lord whisper where he wants us to go. Yet … Continue reading What He Wills
