Mish Mash

We are leaving for vacation in a few days. Aside from the usual anxiety over the airplane ride, I am tasting tiny tidbits of bittersweet fruit. My daughter’s “only child” status has never seriously bothered her….until the last few months or so. We tried to find a homeschool friend to go with us, but at her age, most parents aren’t too keen on their kids flying halfway across the country with people who aren’t family. I don’t blame them; I wouldn’t let my child go on vacation with someone else, either! But, for her sake, we asked three friends. The … Continue reading Mish Mash

Like a sheep

This handsome fella was at the zoo we visited when my daughter was not quite 2 years old. This section was the petting zoo, and we were given the “opportunity” to step inside and mingle with the livestock. To this day, I have a tremendous fear of goats. All because of him. The Eater. Building Wisdom in our Kids

I really admire you for homeschooling your daughter. I wish I could do that with my kids!” If I had a dollar for every time I have heard those words, I’d have enough to take myself out to Starbucks a few times! The purpose of today’s blog is encourage these … Continue reading Building Wisdom in our Kids

Taking pictures with my heart

Understand, therefore, that the Lord your God is indeed God. He is the faithful God who keeps his covenant for a thousand generations and lavishes his unfailing love on those who love him and obey his commands. — From Deuteronomy 7 This week I have begun using a terrific application on my iphone. I downloaded YouVersion way back when I first got my phone, but I never realized the functionality of it until this week. My new favorite feature is the “Daily Reading” option located at the bottom of the home screen. One touch of the screen, and bam! I’ve … Continue reading Taking pictures with my heart

Feeling Pressed? You’re On The Right Road!

“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.” -Jesus, as quoted in Matthew 7 My interest in educating my daughter at home began when she was only a toddler. I bought a couple of books about homeschooling and thought I would give it a try. It wasn’t long, though, before it became clear that my very bright only child turned social butterfly needed a social … Continue reading Feeling Pressed? You’re On The Right Road!
