Breath of Life

What makes a person, a person? What is it that separates life from death? The first and most important thing I can share with you is that Jesus defeated death. And he promised us that if we just believe in him, that He is the son of God, then we will also be defeaters of death. This is a most urgent message. What happens to you when you die? Have you ever seen someone who has passed away? It is immediately apparent! Everyone…even a family pet…knows right away when someone has died. The change in appearance is as immediate and … Continue reading Breath of Life

Huckabee’s Plan: Energy Independence

I sure am writing a lot about Mike Huckabee these days even though my original goal is to encourage those in the faith. There is so much about his messages that resonate with me. Today I must admit I am angry. Why? I’m mad because it’s time to fill the car up again with gas, and the price just keeps going up and up. I have a smallish car, and I get great gas mileage. But it costs over $40 to fill up the tank. This increase doesn’t just raise prices at the pump; the jump in oil prices has … Continue reading Huckabee’s Plan: Energy Independence

Taxes, Government and Christ

I watched the debate on Fox News last night and was reminded that, like all people who walk on this earth, all those candidates are just people. Like you and me, they all make mistakes. As my dad would say, they all put their pants on one leg at a time. It’s helpful to remember that when you watch the debates and other events that showcase them. I wish they’d spend more time talking about how they’d solve problems than pointing fingers at each other’s mistakes, but that’s for a different post. Today I need to write about taxes and … Continue reading Taxes, Government and Christ

Huckabee’s Wisdom

The more I listen to Mike Huckabee, the more convinced I am of his authenticity and of his wisdom. I have been concerned with the turn our nation has taken over the past several years. We appear to be on the edge of another recession. Morality has become a bad word in secular circles as people turn towards shades of gray in areas where all was once either right or wrong. An advice columnist in the Dallas Morning News wrote yesterday in answer to a question about why it is no longer shameful for people to live together before marriage: … Continue reading Huckabee’s Wisdom

If I lived in Iowa, I’d caucus for Huck

Too bad the Texas primaries aren’t until March!  Huckabee often compares politics to being in a brutal sports arena.  And he’s right.  People of all walks of life get emotional and sometimes downright ugly when pushing for their candidate.  We are very fortunate that in our country, we don’t have riots or burn churches when a certain candidate doesn’t win an election.  I am so grateful for America…for the freedom to choose.  I once again urge you, whether you live in Iowa or New Hampshire or in one of the dozens of states whose primaries are in early February, get … Continue reading If I lived in Iowa, I’d caucus for Huck
