Countdown to the Race!

In a little over three hours, my honey will begin the race of a lifetime in the Roman Marathon. I’m so proud of him!  There never has been any doubt in my mind that he would get this far in his training.  He has endurance and a lot of self discipline.  God put the dream in him and has helped him stick to a training plan. This past week we visited his brother’s gravesite. He always wanted to run a marathon with his brother. Now he will run with him in spirit, beginning and ending the race at the famed … Continue reading Countdown to the Race!

Can’t go it alone

3 All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort….We were crushed and overwhelmed beyond our ability to endure, and we thought we would never live through it. 9 In fact, we expected to die. But as a result, we stopped relying on ourselves and learned to rely only on God, who raises the dead. 10 And he did rescue us from mortal danger, and he will rescue us again. Island Girl’s Adventures

Ahhh.  The ocean was so beautiful today I wanted to circle my arms around it and draw it into myself.  I literally experienced that desire to “drink in” the scenery —  I feasted on the view with my eyes and my heart. Tomorrow we make the trek home, and I am filled to the brim with stored up joy and refreshment from this mini-vacation.  If I was an inanimate object, I’d be a bubbling fountain.  Or an ocean wave.  I wish I could bottle up the coast and transplant it up a ways north so we could visit more often! … Continue reading Island Girl’s Adventures

What did I just write?

Sleep deprivation is most certainly linked to memory loss….and I have the miles on my car to prove it! Last night I experienced “restless leg syndrome” in my legs, my feet, my knees, my arms, my wrists, my hands…even my tongue kept having this weird tingling sensation.  I wrestled with the sheets for awhile, did the Icy Heat thing.  When that didn’t work I added the heating pad even though the directions explicitly warn consumers NOT to pair heating pads with the medicine.  But I had more restless parts than heating pads, so I got up. Walked a bit.  Stretched. … Continue reading What did I just write?

Silvering Waters

“Silvering Waters.”  ISO 100, f/10, 20″ Neighbors peeking out their back windows last night would have been treated to a view of The Happy Dance after I experimented with this shot by the creek.  I’d seen a friend’s photo taken down in a canyon where the water appeared soft and wispy, and I wanted to achieve the same effect.  Granted, her photo had lots of color as it was taken somewhere in Utah surrounded by canyons, a blue sky overhead, and plenty of rushing water.  All I had was a barely trickling creek, but I am so happy that the … Continue reading Silvering Waters
