The $72 Billion Question

America started down the road to socialism on February 3, 1913 when the 16th amendment was ratified. This amendment states: The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from whatever source derived, without apportionment among the several States, and without regard to any census or enumeration. Our federal government has collected income taxes for nearly 100 years. This was one of the first small steps our nation took that has led many of our citizens to believe that socialism is the best -ism for America. The problem, though, is that these Americans are being led like … Continue reading The $72 Billion Question

Paying students to attend school?

What are we coming to? An article on the CNN website today tells of a new program that pays parents to attend parent-teacher conferences and pays students to attend school and take tests.  Says the brainiac who thought up this idea, “Our parents are disconnected. Sine of the Times

The front page of today’s Metro section of the Dallas Morning News has a series of photographs of billboards, posters, and signs found throughout Dallas — all with glaring spelling and/or grammatical errors. A generation of our people have scraped through our public schools and have entered the workforce without knowing how to write (or spell, or read, or balance a checkbook, etc). Clearly, something in our education system is broken! More to come…. Continue reading Sine of the Times

The Educator’s Candidate

Education — education is the civil rights issue of this century. Equal access to public education has been gained, but what is the value of access to a failing school? We need…We need to shake up failed school bureaucracies with competition, empower parents with choice. Let’s remove barriers to qualified instructors, attract and reward good teachers, and help bad teachers find another line of work. When a public school fails to meet its obligations to students, parent — when it fails to meet its obligations to students, parents deserve a choice in the education of their children. And I intend … Continue reading The Educator’s Candidate
