Many thanks to the people who put this video together of snippets of Mike Huckabee’s speeches on a variety of topics that are relevant to today.
Yesterday I watched and recorded the Republican debate on MSNBC. On two separate occasions when Governor Romney was asked a question, an obvious whisper was heard right before he repeated whatever the whisper said to say! At first, I thought the MSNBC questioners perhaps whispered the words themselves, although I can’t imagine why they would do such a thing. One of these such instances can be seen here:
So whose voice was that? Does Romney have some sort of earbud or other transmitter that prompts him what to say? Or was that one of the MSNBC questioners? A recent blog post from NBC political researcher Domenico Montanaro states:
As far as figuring out the mystery of who or where it came from, that is being worked on, and we hope to have an answer soon. It puzzled us here too, and we’re looking through tape of other candidates to see if it was one of them. We’ll let you know.
The jury is out until we know more about who said what, when. The fact remains that the Lord despises falsehood. I can’t say it any better than this from Proverbs 12:
22 The LORD detests lying lips,
but he delights in men who are truthful.
I am hopeful that the truth on this controversy will come out.
My eyebrows were also raised when Governor Romney was asked about how much of his own personal fortune he’d spent on the campaign so far in Florida. He refused to answer that question, saying that he would file it as required by law at the end of the month — which just happens to be AFTER the Florida primary this Tuesday. Here’s what he said:
He doesn’t care about the voters? I think he probably meant that he doesn’t care if the voters know, but he doesn’t want his opponents to know. That is a cop out. Why not let his opponents know? What would they gain by knowing how much of his own money he’s contributed?
In contrast, Huckabee speaks to the heart of voters in response to a question on the new economic stimulus package:
What more can I say? Governor Huckabee has wisdom that rises above those of his opponents. I found an interesting verse from Psalm 2 regarding kings and wisdom. I pray that whoever is chosen to lead this great country of ours will take heed:
10 Therefore, you kings, be wise;
be warned, you rulers of the earth.
11 Serve the LORD with fear
and rejoice with trembling.
12 Kiss the Son, lest he be angry
and you be destroyed in your way,
for his wrath can flare up in a moment.
Blessed are all who take refuge in him.
