Boy, in these days of video cameras attached to cell phones, nothing anyone says is hidden. It reminds me of what Jesus said about nothing being hidden, from Luke 8, verse 17:
For there is nothing hidden that will not be disclosed, and nothing concealed that will not be known or brought out into the open.
I don’t know how the politicians can put a spin on the words of Obama. He was speaking about the need to educate kids about sex. First he qualified his answer saying that he would teach them about morals and values, but then he said that he has two daughters, and he does not want them to be punished with a pregnancy.
I doubt that he and Michelle considered their pregnancies to be punishments because, as Harvard-educated people, they likely carefully planned the timing of their families. And that is certainly their right to do so. I admire the father in Obama; I have a child the same age as his, so I know that he really does understand the stages a nine year old has gone through.
But as a woman who has suffered through several miscarriages, and as a Christ follower, I cannot see any reason why a pregnancy — a baby — can in any way be seen as punishment.
Our grandparents’ parents were most likely teenagers when they married and had children. What kind of stuff were they made of? Were they somehow tougher than today’s teenagers? These people, many who were married by the time they were sixteen or seventeen, went on to be productive members of society. They were the ones who saw our nation through WWI and WWII, who endured the Great Depression, who persevered and made a great work ethic the backbone of their own lives and the lives of their children.
This comment by Obama clearly illustrates his mind-set. I am not smacking him for believing that sex education is necessary. I am not smacking him at all — I am, rather, enlightened as I listen to his views about unwanted pregnancy.
Obama’s view of an unexpected pregnancy as a punishment contrasts starkly with the Bible’s teaching about children, as Psalm 127 illustrates:
Sons are a heritage from the LORD,
children a reward from him.Like arrows in the hands of a warrior
are sons born in one’s youth.
Perhaps this mindset explains why Obama, as chairman of an Illinois committee, voted to kill legislation that would have prevented the killing of infants who had been aborted but were born alive. This same legislation passed almost unanimously in the US Senate — even Hillary Clinton voted for it. Obama voted against this legislation not once, not twice, but three times.
Why was this legislation needed? Some late-term abortions are performed simply by inducing labor in the mother. The baby is born and then is wrapped up in soiled clothes and left to die. When it dies, the baby is taken to the morgue.

A very compelling video has been posted on You Tube regarding Obama’s opposition to this act. The speaker is a woman who personally observed aborted infants being born alive. In many cases, as a nurse, she held them and cuddled them until they died.
Is this practice just?
See her testimony and judge for yourself:
