In God We Trust

2 Samuel 10; 1 Chronicles 19; Psalm 20

The message today gives more insight to the way the Lord was with David. Those nations that insulted him ended up being completely routed…the Bible says that David killed forty thousand foot soldiers in one battle!

Forty thousand is nearly four times the number of people who live in my small town!

I like this verse from Psalm 20:

Some trust in chariots and some in horses,
but we trust in the name of the LORD our God.8 They are brought to their knees and fall,
but we rise up and stand firm.

With all the uncertainty in the world today in the financial markets…in our government…when a WWII memorial cross is stolen in retaliation of a Supreme Court ruling allowing it to continue to stand, as it has since the 1930s…I am reminded of what my trust is in: The Lord Jesus.

Not dollars.  Not euros.  Not the stock market.  Not my husband’s job.  Not the government.  Not the military.

Unless the Lord himself builds the house, the foundation will not stand.  Unless the Lord rebuilds me from the inside out, I will not stand, either.  Thank you, Lord, for your saving grace and your remarkable innovation — Jesus — who makes me whole.
