Willing and obedient

Isaiah 1-4

If you are willing and obedient,
you will eat the best from the land;

20 but if you resist and rebel,
you will be devoured by the sword.”
For the mouth of the LORD has spoken.

Now that’s a clear mandate, isn’t it?  Be willing and obedient.  We expect our children to be obedient…are we obedient to our heavenly Father?  Earlier in that passage God tells us to

learn to do right!
Seek justice,
encourage the oppressed. [a]
Defend the cause of the fatherless,
plead the case of the widow.

I just read another news article today about this topsy turvy world.  A university professor was fired because he said that homosexual behavior is immoral.  What happened to free speech?  I guess speech is free only when you are saying what the System wants to hear.

Are we as a nation being willing and obedient?  Am I?  If I was in the classroom teaching again and was asked by a student what I thought about that topic, I would also probably be fired if I said what I thought.  Would I be honest and risk my job?  Or take the easy road and skip around the answer?

I’d like to think I would stand on my principle that come from the Lord — but also that I would spread the love of Christ through my actions.  I don’t hate anyone.  I have friends who have an alternate lifestyle.  I have a family member who abuses alcohol, and another one who left a spouse for another.  In all of those cases, I make it my goal to love the sinner, but hate the sin.

Willing and obedient is the mandate…and as a result we will get the best of the land.  I pray for that for our country and for myself!
