The girl has a brain!

Today I plumb near vibrated the fillings out of my teeth.  Well, technically I was not the one doing the vibrating, but since I was stuck in the middle of an MRI tunnel and IT vibrated, I jiggled along for the ride. When my brother, who is deaf and wears hearing aids, told me that HE could hear the noise of an MRI when he last had one, I knew the sucker had to be extremely loud.  I also knew it would be a tight fit.  What I didn’t reckon on was the intense vibration.  Or the itch I got … Continue reading The girl has a brain!

The Homeschooling Hobos

Pondering the word “journey” brings an image to my mind of a hobo boy dressed in patched clothing, carrying his only belongings in a homemade sack tied to a stick.  He whistles as his feet scuffle the dusty road. Along the way he stops to examine a ladybug determined to stand her ground against a very rude ant. This little boy is not heading in any particular direction or to any specific destination.  Instead, his goal is to LIVE, to survive, to embrace all that life has to offer, whatever that may be, trusting that the Lord will provide for … Continue reading The Homeschooling Hobos

Echoes of Marley?

One of my favorite books of all time is Marley and Me by Josh Grogan. When I read it the first time I had two dogs of my own who filled my life with funny escapades…a Dalmatian and a Havaton. I wept heart-wrenching tears at all the touching moments of Marley’s life, and I laughed until I cried visualizing the antics described in Grogan’s chronicle.  I was even inspired to write my own tribute to my Dalmatian Shiner.  I thought I knew what it was like to have a dog like Marley. But I was wrong. Now…I have my own … Continue reading Echoes of Marley?

Annoyed Again

I’m  annoyed that my name and driver’s license number were collected and sent over cyberspace to a mysterious data collection site today.  All I wanted to do was purchase a decongestant for my hubby who has been on the fringe of misery all week thanks to high grass pollen.  Now I feel like a criminal even though I did nothing wrong. I guess “innocent until proven guilty” is on its way out of our collective mentality. I bought the medicine, so my name goes on a list.  If I buy it again, my name will go on the list again. … Continue reading Annoyed Again

The Pause Before the Plunge

The roller coaster slows as it chugs its way up the steep incline.  Reaching the zenith, there’s a slight pause, a moment of inertia until gravity takes over and the coaster accelerates down the hill in a rush of adrenaline and squeals. If this scene does not accurately describe your own experience riding roller coasters, that’s okay.  It doesn’t describe mine, either, because I don’t ride them.  But it’s how I imagine a roller coaster ride would be. I bring up this roller coaster scene not because I have a hankering to go stand in the hot sun on concrete … Continue reading The Pause Before the Plunge
