Hiding isn’t just for wimps

Today I had one of those “Huh?” moments while reading  about the events leading up to the crowning of Israel’s first king, Saul.  God’s people grumbled and complained and kept begging for a king, so God finally said, “Okay.”  It reminds me of the times that my dad gave in and let me have my way.  If I had a fit, his answer was always no.  But I quickly learned that if I gracefully accepted his initial “No,” he usually relented later and would agree to let me do whatever it was that I had asked.  To this day, I … Continue reading Hiding isn’t just for wimps

Shaped in the storm’s wake

Psalm 148 Praise the Lord ! Praise the Lord from the heavens! Praise him from the skies! 2 Praise him, all his angels! Praise him, all the armies of heaven! 3 Praise him, sun and moon! But the only One who owns me personally…my heart, my soul, my mind, and my strength…is Jesus Christ. Continue reading Who Owns You?

In a Moment

One moment I was on the phone with my husband who had called to say he would pick our daughter up from her gymnastics class… One moment I was considering how much house I could clean in the few minutes I had until they got home from gym class… …when suddenly, in two seconds, everything changed. My daughter fell off the balance beam at the gym.  She told me later that she screamed as soon as she hit the floor and that she just knew her arm was broken.  What we didn’t know at the time is that not one … Continue reading In a Moment
