Teacher-In-Chief

Is anyone in our country above the law? Apparently our esteemed national leaders consider laws beneath them when those laws do not serve their purposes…and I am beyond angry at the ludicrous way our leaders keep breaking their own laws. Let’s start at the top, shall we? President Obama is violating the 1974 Budget Act for the third year in a row.  I guess the IRS will give me an extension on my taxes if I decide I need a few more weeks to “finalize decisions and technical details.”  WRONG!  If my daughter decides she needs an extra few weeks … Continue reading Teacher-In-Chief

The Fly on the Wall

I just watched Newt Gingrich’s speech at Friday night’s GOP fundraiser.  I’m so thankful for technology that allows me to be the proverbial fly on the wall at these events. I am more convinced than ever that Newt’s intelligence, wit, experience, dignity and classiness will help bring our nation back from the brink. I’m really impressed that he spent time complimenting his fellow competitors (not opponents.) The media will continue to ignore him until he shoots up in the polls, so educate yourself on what he — and the other candidates — stand for. Here’s the clip so you can … Continue reading The Fly on the Wall

A Closet Libertarian

It’s been a very long time since I have posted political musings.  Today is a stormy day, I’m missing a family reunion due to back pain, and an email I received several days ago from my mom reminded me that voting is a privilege AND a responsibility.  All those things add up to RESEARCH time. So while I wait for the soup on the stove to finish simmering, I’ve got my feet up and my laptop in my lap, fingers and brain clicking at the speed of light…well, almost. First I need to send out a thank you to the … Continue reading A Closet Libertarian

Give Me Liberty, Or Give Me….Healthcare?

Individual liberty is about to take a huge hit in the form of the latest Health Care fiasco. The most appalling fact I have heard to date about the push to pass health care legislation is that our very own elected representatives were banned from participating in the writing of this voluminous document.  Banned!  Simply because they were members of the opposite political party, they were not allowed to give input.  They are thwarted by every turn.  And now this beast of a bill is stupendous in its stupidity — it penalizes those who don’t have health insurance with a … Continue reading Give Me Liberty, Or Give Me….Healthcare?

The Free Lunch Culprit

I read a news story today that reported on another study about the “obesity epidemic” among children.  The culprit, according to the story, is the unhealthy school lunch paid for by the government (in other words, paid for by taxpayers) to feed children whose parents can’t afford to feed them. Let me get this straight: these children are so poor and hungry that they are……..obese? Is anyone else out there puzzling over this discrepancy? There is no doubt that the Lord calls us to feed those who are hungry, but I think His definition of “hungry” might differ from our … Continue reading The Free Lunch Culprit
