Psalm 43-45; 49; 84-85; 87: What’s in a Name?

Since I’m back in the Psalms tonight, I thought I’d pick out a few of my favorite verses, especially those that reach out to me when I am in the middle of an anxiety storm.

Send forth your light and your truth,
let them guide me;
let them bring me to your holy mountain,
to the place where you dwell. Psalm 43:3

Through you we push back our enemies;
through your name we trample our foes.

6 I do not trust in my bow,
my sword does not bring me victory;  Psalm 44:6

15 But God will redeem my life [f] from the grave;
he will surely take me to himself. Psalm 39:15

There is power in the Name of the Lord.  There is power in the Name of Jesus.  We often end our prayers with the words, “in Jesus’ name” before saying Amen.  But do we ever really take the time to notice what we are saying?  Do we take the time to realize the great power that is in the Name above all names?  When the people were astonished at Jesus’ great miracles, he told his disciples that they, too, would perform miracles…in His name.  He also told us that if we ask the Father anything in His name, we will receive it.

Now may you who read this be blessed and find comfort in these verses during your storms, whether they be like mine and filled wit anxiousness, or whatever situation you may find yourself in…I ask the Lord to give you His peace, this moment, and grace to get through this moment, right now.  I deliberately pray this prayer in the most powerful Name of all, in Jesus.
