2 Samuel 19-21
David finally is restored to his throne after hightailing it out of Jerusalem in the wake of Absalom’s conspiracy.
His military commander, Joab, was not an honest man. He killed twice in order to retain command of the army.
I guess that goes to show that the Lord is Lord over us all — the good, the bad, and the ugly!
Beyond that…I have writer’s block. I can’t think of any application to today’s passage except to not lose hope, even in the face of seemingly insurmountable odds. David’s men were fickle, moving their loyalty quickly depending on which way the wind blew. But God intervened in the end, placing David back on the throne and fulfilling his promises of old.
God is still in the business of fulfilling promises! And I, for one, am so grateful to Him for remaining unchanged, always.
