John 7-8
Jesus begins to be bolder in his explanation of Who He is. The people don’t want to believe he’s the Messiah because the scriptures say the Messiah will come from Bethlehem, not Galilee.
Why then didn’t Jesus tell them the story of his early life? Why is it that the people of Galilee did not know of his birth in Bethlehem, flight to Egypt, and then trip back to Nazareth? I’ve often wondered about that. Perhaps Jesus wanted to cultivate faith? Or maybe his parents didn’t tell him? But He knew everything!
Perhaps the answer lies here:
7He who belongs to God hears what God says. The reason you do not hear is that you do not belong to God.”
Maybe these people wouldn’t have believed it even if they had seen it all unfold in front of their own eyes.
Sometimes I just have more questions than answers. Tonight is one of those nights. But God can handle them! He’ll answer me when He’s ready.
