Luke 17:11-18:14
Earlier I blogged about the Kingdom of God, wondering what it was, precisely. Today I stumbled upon the answer. The Pharisees asked Jesus the same question.
20Once, having been asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, Jesus replied, “The kingdom of God does not come with your careful observation, 21nor will people say, ‘Here it is,’ or ‘There it is,’ because the kingdom of God is within[b] you.”
Now that is something to think about! I know the Holy Spirit is within me. But now all those parables are making more sense — the Kingdom of God is like a man who finds a treasure buried in the field. He sells all his possessions in order to purchase that field…this speaks to my internal desire to know and love the Lord…to have the glorious treasure of the kingdom inside me! Perhaps the Kingdom of God and the Holy Spirit are two different names for the same Concept….
Wow. This little sentence from Jesus is like a lens through which I can view his other teachings!
Have you ever purchased something electronic that had a screen that was covered with a thin layer of plastic film? I feels as if some plastic film has been peeled back from my eyes. Why have I never noticed that verse before?
Thank you, Lord, for showing me and teaching me new concepts every day and for peeling a layer from my eyes and giving me greater understanding.
