The Visible Changes

As promised, here’s the After: What do you think?  Better than the before?  Granted, I did what all those “Makeover” magazines do and took the “Before” photo without makeup.  But then I had to go to the mall.  To detract from my Very Bad Hair, I had to put on some mascara and lipstick.  You’ve done that before, right? I confess that I haven’t been taking great care of myself lately.  It’s hard to make the effort to put on jeans that snap when your belly hurts so much you end up unsnapping them later and hope no one notices! … Continue reading The Visible Changes

Random Friday

And now, for something completely different… Happy 43rd Anniversary to my parents!  Theirs is a “made in Hollywood” love story: Smalltown Texas girl graduates high school.  Girl travels to California for a graduation trip.  Girl meets boy.  Two weeks later, boy proposes.  One week later, girl marries boy, moves to California. Two people who had nothing but love formed a bond that endures today.  May you have many more long years together! To celebrate their anniversary, I’m going to get my hair cut.  Well, maybe not for celebratory purposes.  Actually, if I don’t have someone else do it, I will … Continue reading Random Friday

My inspiration

These are my girls.  Aren’t they beautiful?  My daughter is growing so quickly that even though this photo was taken this past summer, she’s already changed and is taller and leaner — even her face is looking more grown up.  My Canine daughter, however, looks just the same as always.  Too cute to ignore.  When she turns those puppy dog eyes on me, I give her anything she wants.  Bacon.  Kix.  Bacon.  A belly rub.  But no puppy kisses.  Bleh.  I can’t stand those. If you follow me on Facebook or Twitter or read me frequently on this blog, you … Continue reading My inspiration

Big Day Scheduled

October 26th is the Big Day.  It’s the day that I will take the plunge and get rid of my inner girl parts, forever.  As one of my good friends told me once, what has my uterus done for me lately, anyway? 🙂 Of course as soon as I scheduled the surgery, my internet research trying to find funny quotes (I need a little humor to get me through this!) instead brought up horrible websites that demean the practice of hysterectomy and blame doctors for pushing it on patients.  They advise women to be strong and tough and WAIT IT … Continue reading Big Day Scheduled

Decisions, decisions

…and the ball is in motion, the die has been cast, and all that jazz… In my journey back to all things healthy and sane, this morning my husband and I went to visit Dr. R. to get a second opinion about the necessity for hysterectomy and to get a feel for which doctor we felt would best meet my needs. Both doctors have been around the block a time or two, and I don’t think I could go wrong with either of them.  However, the one-word description my husband had for Dr. R. is “thorough.”  Whereas Dr. C. came … Continue reading Decisions, decisions
