5 Feet Strong

Psalm 134; 146-150 and 1 King 9, 2 Chronicles 8 Tonight I am tackling two Bible readings at one sitting because it is already early morning!  I am so grateful to the Lord for giving me the energy I’ve needed today to complete so many tasks in preparation for the parent practicum this week.  I pray for all 131 adult attendees and 96 children…Lord, would you be with us this week as we learn together how to teach our children beyond a book?  I am weary tonight, but this weariness is of the joyful kind.  It feels wonderful to pour … Continue reading 5 Feet Strong

Endurance

2 Chronicles 6-7; Psalm 136 Give thanks to the God of Heaven; His love endures forever! I read these words of praise today after a 2 Chronicles recap of Solomon’s dedication of the temple.  Endurance is a concept that I desperately need for myself this week as our homeschool practicum draws near. My endurance may fade…and it does.  Tonight my eyes have a film over them.  Have you ever been so tired that you see the world through a haze?  Yet God does not tire.  He has everlasting endurance, and He is my strength.  No matter what may come at … Continue reading Endurance

Wholeheartedly

1 Kings 7, 8 2 Chronicles 4, 5 Solomon built the temple and his palace, employing experts to construct the bronze and golden implements in the temple.  It took seven years to construct the temple; it took thirteen years to construct his palace. Yesterday I didn’t read or blog…that’s a first in this journey of mine to read through the Bible in a year and one I will try not to repeat.  It is much too easy to skip when a habit is so new! I loved Solomon’s prayer at the dedication of the temple.  It echoes my thoughts as … Continue reading Wholeheartedly

The little things

1 Kings 5-6; 2 Chronicles 2-3 These accounts described Solomon’s trade with Hiram to secure the best quality wood and artists to work on the temple.  It also describes what the temple looked like when finished, all covered with gold.  It must have been dazzling to the eye — appropriate to be a place where the people would come to worship. Our Lord is dazzling indeed.  I have a recent story of how good God really is.  I’ve written before about the severe pain I’ve been having with my cycle.  I prayed earlier this week that the Lord would take … Continue reading The little things

Love of learning

Proverbs 22-24 After a day at a parent practicum where Wisdom is the order of the day, I am exhausted and brain-tired.  Yet, these verses in tonight’s reading sum up my thoughts about the love of learning: 13 Eat honey, my son, for it is good; honey from the comb is sweet to your taste. 14 Know also that wisdom is sweet to your soul; if you find it, there is a future hope for you, and your hope will not be cut off.
