Mary, or Martha?

Luke 10, 11; John 10:22-42

40But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!”41“Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, 42but only one thing is needed.[f] Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”

Are you are Mary or a Martha?  I am, without question, a Martha.  I am distracted by the many preparations that need to be made in my life.  My quiet time — this reading and blogging time and the few minutes before I fall asleep, when I wake up, and then throughout the day as the Lord calls people to mind — feels rushed.  I simply do not know how to fit in everything that needs to be done.

This week, I will try to be a Mary.  I will ask the Lord to quiet my soul and help me slow down and take in those things He wants me to embrace and to put aside those things that are not necessary.
