An ounce of wisdom

Matthew 22-24; Luke 20-21; Mark 12-13 Wow!  I’m home again..but the hour is very late, so this blog must be brief. I tried to blog from my phone and also from the hotel’s business center last week, but those words are floating somewhere in cyberspace, lost forever.  I’m not sure what happened.  But no matter…I’m back, and I’ve read all the readings! What strikes me about these passages is how very WISE our Lord Jesus is.  Over and over again those who refused to believe kept trying to trap him into saying something that would be a punishable offense.  But … Continue reading An ounce of wisdom

Kingdom Inside

Matthew 20-21 I am now at the hotel. This week my blogging will be sparse because I only have my phone…but I will continue reading and will blog when I return home. Jesus spoke more on the Kingdoom of heaven, a d again I read it with fresh eyes. I dwelled on this truth as the plane took off this afternoon and did experience less anxiety Han I expected, so thanks for your prayers! Tomorrow I go to the pain clinic. I’ll update as I can. My new Christmas wish list

Matthew 19; Mark 10 51“What do you want me to do for you?” Jesus asked him. The blind man said, “Rabbi, I want to see.” 52“Go,” said Jesus, “your faith has healed you.” Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus along the road. If Jesus asked me what I wanted him to do for me (as if I deserve anything from Him!), what would I ask for?  What would YOU ask for? Freedom from anxiety.  That is high on my list. Freedom from pain.  That is another request that I would ask. Tomorrow I will do what is usually … Continue reading My new Christmas wish list

A new understanding

Luke 17:11-18:14 Earlier I blogged about the Kingdom of God, wondering what it was, precisely.  Today I stumbled upon the answer.  The Pharisees asked Jesus the same question. 20Once, having been asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, Jesus replied, “The kingdom of God does not come with your careful observation, 21nor will people say, ‘Here it is,’ or ‘There it is,’ because the kingdom of God is within[b] you.” Now that is something to think about!  I know the Holy Spirit is within me.  But now all those parables are making more sense — the Kingdom … Continue reading A new understanding

Not so scary

John 11 What an appropriate story for this time of year!  Jesus triumphs over death.  My neighbors have fake mummies and cemeteries littering their yards…yet to me, none of those things are scary because Jesus overcame death.  Through Him, I will, also, and that is cause for celebration! In John 11, we read a detailed account of Lazarus.  Dead for four days and buried in a cave, everybody expected his body to be in an advanced state of decay.  Yet Jesus, to glorify God, called that dead man out of the grave, and out he came, linen wrappings and all! … Continue reading Not so scary
