Building character

Ezekiel 5-8 The Lord gave the Israelites plenty of warnings about their need to turn from their idolatry. In Ezekiel 8, we read how the spirit of the Lord picked him up by the hair and took him to the temple…there he was able to see the hinges the leaders were doing in secret. That is a great reminder that the Lord sees everything, and he hears every thing we say as well as everything we think. What do we do then when we feel we are held captive by thoughts that aren’t godly? Maybe we get angry and say … Continue reading Building character

Brief words

Ezekiel 1-4 The word “harsh” is what comes to mind after reading these four chapters in Ezekiel. The Lord gave Ezekiel a vision and then gave him messages to give to the people…this was during the time that Israel was being held captive in Babylon. I don’t know if this is symbolic or realistic, but I’m inclined to believe it might be symbolic and may be using some hyperbole. The Lord told Ezekiel to bake enough bread and ration enough water to last over 400 days. He told Ezekiel that he would tie him up with ropes (real ropes, or … Continue reading Brief words

Lamentations 3:37 – 5 We made it! God is so good to us. Here in Gulfport MS, it seems that all the tourists have skipped out or are in school. That is fine with us because it means more beach for us! Even though I am sad about NaNa’s death, I do owe it to her for bringing us back to the beach. I feel so much closer to God here…not sure why, but loving it all the same. Please pray that the ME will release her for burial tonight. The family needs some closure. Lamentations 4 is an acrostic … Continue reading

It’s a beautiful day

Lamentations 1 – 3:36 My husband’s grandmother is now dancing with the Lord.  I’m in the midst of planning a whirlwind trip to Alabama, so my posts will be very brief or non-existant over the next few days…I will continue to READ the Bible on my plan, but my blogs will be short and maybe every other day or so. So, in light of today’s loss, it is fitting that the reading plan called for a dip in Lamentations!  Lamentations 1 and 2 personify Jerusalem and talk about her destruction, but then Lamentations 3 seems to be coming from the … Continue reading It’s a beautiful day

Nothing much

Jeremiah 51-52 Jeremiah gave more predictions about Babylon’s eventual fall and the restoration of Israel. I must confess I can’t write tonight. There is no application to what I read because I read it with a forced mind…making myself do it even though my eyes are droopy with sleep.  And I’m dreading the late night call about my husband’s grandmother.  She’ll be gone any minute now, according to the hospice nurses.  So…I can’t concentrate.  More later, I promise.
