An amazing day

I had so many birthday well wishes on my Facebook wall today.  People wrote many adjectives describing the kind of day they hoped I would have: amazing, wondrous, special, incredible, happy.  And it occurred to me: just what constitutes an amazing day? Amazing is different depending on who is doing the rating, isn’t it?  To a person who has no arms or legs, amazing might be finding a new tool to help improve mobility.  To a fisherman, amazing might include a 3am start out on the lake.  But what does it mean to me? Sadly, I don’t think I know … Continue reading An amazing day

It’s a beautiful day

Lamentations 1 – 3:36 My husband’s grandmother is now dancing with the Lord.  I’m in the midst of planning a whirlwind trip to Alabama, so my posts will be very brief or non-existant over the next few days…I will continue to READ the Bible on my plan, but my blogs will be short and maybe every other day or so. Mommy Timeout

I really wish I could have one day without pain in some shape or form.  Most of the time it is simply inconvenient and hovers on the back burner of my mind.  But last night I had the terrible, horrible, no good, very bad pain (a la the children’s book character, Alexander) that kept me awake and has rendered me exhausted this afternoon.  Top off that exhaustion with pain on an ovary, continued lower back pain, a headache, and a giant balloon in my stomach, and you get a very cranky woman. Yes, the laundry is overflowing.  Yes, everything is … Continue reading Mommy Timeout

Mighty to Save

Zephaniah The prophet has much to say about the proud, the arrogant, and those who turn their backs on the Lord.  The Lord will come and destroy the wicked…yet he saves a remnant, those who are humble and who seek Him.  He saves them from their enemies. I did not realize that the chorus of one of my favorite worship songs is derived from chapter 3 of Zephaniah.  Here it is…enjoy! Continue reading Mighty to Save

Where wisdom flows

Hosea 8-14 (again) and Isaiah 28-30 I need to do these earlier in the day! Words of wisdom wound their way through today (and yesterday’s) readings…more on wisdom and knowledge.  You think those are important to the Lord? All this (see Isaiah 28 — the care and the workings of a garden and of food for a family to eat) also comes from the Lord Almighty, wonderful in counsel and magnificent in wisdom.”‘ Yes, the Lord IS wonderful in counsel and magnificent in wisdom.  He is the one who created the wheat plants which produce the wheat berries that are … Continue reading Where wisdom flows
