The High School Homeschool Tightrope

I’m walking on a tightrope in the dark — thrilling chills and terrifying fears lurch in my belly.  I haven’t actually joined the circus.  Instead, I am taking a hike off the well-paved homeschool trail, forging a path of my own.  We are up a creek, so to speak, without a paddle.  And can I tell you?  It feels glorious! Libertarianism has seeped into my educational philosophy, and I find myself thinking things that two years ago I never would have thought in a zillion years.  I’ve been harboring dangerous thoughts lately, especially for a control-freak like me, such as: … Continue reading The High School Homeschool Tightrope

Do You “Believe In” Evolution?

I was taught in Texas public schools about the THEORY of evolution. The teaching of it included some alternate viewpoints from scientists (not religious viewpoints) that pointed out its weaknesses. For example, there is that annoying absence in the fossil record documenting the supposed evolution of one species to another. Oh, and also the fact that Darwin himself, in his introduction to Origin of Species, concluded this: “I am well aware that there is scarcely a single point discussed in this volume on which facts cannot be adduced (proven, or explained), often apparently leading to conclusions directly opposite to those … Continue reading Do You “Believe In” Evolution?

The ABCs On The Wall

Although my faith is firm in my King Jesus, I cringe to see the ABCs on the wall for this country we inhabit if we do not stand firm and refuse to believe the deception swirling around us. Many Americans have been duped, such as this one: If I help him, he’s gonna help me.” The bedrock of this country is crumbling in the name of ‘help’.   A man in El Paso jumped off a bridge to his death and left 2 notes behind to Senator Obama, asking him to “help” his family.  What is wrong with this picture? Obama … Continue reading The ABCs On The Wall

Where the rubber meets the road

It’s interesting how we Christians are called to live in this world, but apart from this world.  Yet those of us in America are fortunate enough to get to have a say in our country’s governance.  It presents an interesting dichotomy for me…as a Christian, I know my God is sovereign.  I know that he already has this election “in the bag.”  He doesn’t have to watch the news on November 4th to see the election returns because time is nothing to him.  On the other hand, a part of me wants to “help” God out by telling people I … Continue reading Where the rubber meets the road

The $72 Billion Question

America started down the road to socialism on February 3, 1913 when the 16th amendment was ratified. This amendment states: The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from whatever source derived, without apportionment among the several States, and without regard to any census or enumeration. Our federal government has collected income taxes for nearly 100 years. This was one of the first small steps our nation took that has led many of our citizens to believe that socialism is the best -ism for America. The problem, though, is that these Americans are being led like … Continue reading The $72 Billion Question
