Independence Day

On this Independence day, I’ve been pondering the current course of our great nation.  I am a proud American, blessed and honored to live in a country where I may freely worship the Lord without threat to my life, my liberty, or my property. I am free to educate my child in the way I see fit — state officials are not breaking down the door as is the case of our homeschooling brothers and sisters in Germany and other nations. Yet there are many liberties I once had that are mine no longer. A slow creep of governmental authority … Continue reading Independence Day

Birthing a Work Ethic

“Axelrod explained that the reason the president’s tax rate was so low (20.5%) was because he donated 22 percent of his income to charity. “The president’s proposal would have him pay a higher rate of taxes in the future,” Axelrod added. Does anyone else notice the irony here? The president wants to change the tax code so that people like him pay a higher percentage (30%) of their income in taxes…this year he paid 20%.  Under his proposal, where will the additional 10% he gives to the government come from?  Will he adjust his lifestyle by cutting out that 10% … Continue reading Birthing a Work Ethic

What does “Small d democracy?” look like?

I had a feeling the story about Obama’s ties to the Chicago New Party which was formed by Democrat Socialists for America and leaders of the Communist Party USA would break in the mainstream media. Today this article appeared as a link on the FoxNews website. It also mentioned a quote from Obama that made me scratch my head in confusion. There is much America does not know about Obama. Take a look at this statement he made after he and two other New Party members were victorious in 1996: these victories prove that small ‘d’ democracy can work.” I … Continue reading What does “Small d democracy?” look like?

Just Hand Over Your Pie And Nobody Gets Hurt

Obama told a plumber that yes, he would probably raise his taxes. “It’s not that I want to punish your success. I just want to make sure that everybody who is behind you, that they’ve got a chance for success too,” Obama responded. “My attitude is that if the economy’s good for folks from the bottom up, it’s gonna be good for everybody … I think when you spread the wealth around, it’s good for everybody.”  (see the whole article here). Obama’s attitude is taken straight from the textbooks under the title “Socialism.”  The American Heritage Dictionary defines socialism as: … Continue reading Just Hand Over Your Pie And Nobody Gets Hurt

The Ivory Soap Campaign

When my brother and I were kids with smart mouths that sometimes said words kids (and adults!) have no business saying, our parents brought out the Ivory soap and gave us an appreciation of the value in telling the truth. I’m here to tell you today that we need a big old bar of Ivory soap to wash out the filth pouring out of politicians’ mouths these days. (Fair warning to McCain supporters — this blog is not a partisan blog today. I’ve been doing some checking, and angry is too mild a word to describe the way I’m feeling … Continue reading The Ivory Soap Campaign
