Second chance

Ezekiel 44-45 Ezekiel’s vision continues.  This time he is taken through the north gate and sees the glory of the Lord there.  He fell face down and heard the Lord give him instructions for the proper use of the Temple.  It appears to me at a first glance to be a re-telling of the rules for the Temple that God had already given but that the Israelites disregarded and forgot over their years of idol worship. There is a distinct flavor of a second chance through these chapters.  Over and over again in my journey through the Bible, I see … Continue reading Second chance

Reflections of His glory

Ezekiel 42-43 Ezekiel’s vision continued with the man showing him the priests’ rooms and the altar.  His vision also included a view of the Glory of the Lord returning to the temple from the east : 1 After this, the man brought me back around to the east gateway. 2 Suddenly, the glory of the God of Israel appeared from the east. The sound of his coming was like the roar of rushing waters, and the whole landscape shone with his glory. Can you imagine what that must have looked/felt/sounded like?  In the next verse, Ezekiel writes that he fell face … Continue reading Reflections of His glory

The details

Ezekiel 40-41 Ezekiel is taken up in a vision in these two chapters to Israel.  A man with a measuring cloth is there and shows Ezekiel all the dimensions of this gleaming temple; the outer walls, the gates, the inner rooms, etc.  He’s very detailed in this vision right down to the ornamental carvings of palm trees and cherubim. The Lord cares about every small detail.  I wish I could stuff that in my brain in such a way that I would really trust Him…because I need Him right now.  I need Him to remove the fear from my mind … Continue reading The details

He has a plan

Ezekiel 38-39 Prophetic words for the distant future are in these chapters of Ezekiel: words about the future coming of Gog from a distant land in the north.  The Bible says this will happen after the Israelites have recovered from a great war (WW II, perhaps?) and have returned to live in their land. Today was a CC day; I’ve been up since dark thirty and am going to have to cut this blog short once again due to fatigue. It is encouraging, though, to know that God HAS a plan.  My husband asked me about what I had planned … Continue reading He has a plan

Heart replacement

Ezekiel 35-37 Confession time: I’ve been a bit weary of Ezekiel these past few days.  It just made me sad to read so much gloom and doom and to see how the nations made the Lord angry by their idolatry.  It made me wish the Israelites had turned from their evil ways and gone back to the Lord so they could have been spared from the Babylonians…but, history is history. Today, though, Ezekiel had these hopeful words to say to God’s people — not because they deserved His mercy, but for the sake of His holy name (do you think … Continue reading Heart replacement
